All railway companies must give you the opportunity to take your bicycle with you if the train is equipped for it. They may charge you for this.

You must put your bicycle in the designated place. If there are no places provided for this purpose, you should supervise your bicycle and ensure, as far as possible, that it does not cause any inconvenience or damage.

In some trains, a reservation will be required to transport your bicycle.

If you have made a reservation and your bike is still refused without a valid reason, you are entitled to a refund or transport along an alternative route, compensation for any delays you may experience and the necessary assistance. These rights have already been described on this page.

A railway undertaking may refuse to transport a bicycle for the following reasons:

  • safety or operational reasons (e.g. restrictions during peak hours, train carriages that have no room for bicycles);
  • weight and dimensions.

Railway undertakings must publish their conditions for transporting bicycles on their website.
